Rather than spending years to find out how the immune system works, we can reduce that time of research by 10 fold or so because we’re going to be studying like 30 to 40 cell types at one time, instead of studying them one by one and this could be a huge step forward, Dr. de Perrot said.

Things to Consider
Canada has recently socialized their medical insurance system, which means it may be quicker to get quality mesothelioma care in the U.S. Regardless of which doctor and which treatment center you choose, the majority of mesothelioma doctors rely on multi-modal treatment options, which can be a combination of the three main types of treatments: chemotherapy, radiation therapy, and surgery.
Keep in mind, however, that the physicians who pioneered SMART are at the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre. What this means is that the treatment obtained there may be different in that it’s considered an innovative approach that other treatment centers may not offer yet.
Before you choose a mesothelioma doctor and treatment center, it’s recommended that you first factor in the stage of the disease, as some mesothelioma doctors are more experienced in handling the late stages of the disease than others. You should also consider your age and health. Some doctors may specifically specialize in surgery, but not all patients will qualify for surgery, due to age or additional health-related issues.
